L’Ethiopien Guye Adola a remporté le marathon de Berlin en 2 h 05 min 45 sec (temps non officiel) devant le Kenyan Bethwell Yegon et le grand favori Kenenisa Bekele, battu d’une bonne minute.

Dans des conditions météo parfaites, le premier semi-marathon a été couru sur des bases très élevées, Bekele, 39 ans, ayant annoncé son intention de s’attaquer au record du monde d’Eliud Kipchoge (2h 01 min 39 sec). Mais aucun coureur n’a pu tenir le rythme dans les 20 derniers kilomètres.

Chez les dames, c’est Gotytom Gebreslase s’est imposée, offrant donc un doublé à son pays après la victoire de son compatriote Guye Adola chez les messieurs.Gebreslase a terminé en 2h 20 min 09 sec, devançant deux autres Ethiopiennes, Hiwot Gebrekidan (2h 21:23) et Helen Tola (2h 23:05).

Dixième, Martina Strähl a réussi à mettre la Suisse dans le top10 en 2h30 et 37 secondes!
